Fortnite Player Discovers Chapter 5's Hidden Reboot Van Secret

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 introduced a sneaky new Reboot Van mechanic that's caught plenty of players surprised. Did you know you can actually hijack another squad's reboot attempts?

From the Fortnite Chapter 5 release notes:

Also, only one squad can use each Reboot Van at a time. If a squad eliminates or scares away the current squad, they can continue the current reboot timer to quickly reboot their teammate!

How to Steal an Enemy's Reboot

The process is surprisingly simple:

  1. Locate a Reboot Van in Use: Find a team attempting to revive their fallen teammate. You'll see the reboot progress bar displayed above the van.

  2. Eliminate or Scare Them Off: Either take out the enemy squad or pressure them enough to retreat from the area.

  3. Claim the Reboot: If the initial squad leaves, the reboot progress remains! Approach the van to continue the process and revive your own squadmate.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • You have limited time: You need to use the Reboot Van quickly before the progress runs out.

  • The Enemy Can Return: Be ready for the original squad to try and retake control of the reboot.

  • High Risk, High Reward: It's a bold move, but stealing a reboot can seriously turn the tide of a battle.

A Surprising Discovery

This feature was mentioned in the official patch notes, but many players don't actually read these things and are caught off guard by these types of discoveries.

McScratchey's Thoughts

Discovering the ability to steal reboot progress in Fortnite Chapter 5 has been eye-opening for me. This is the first time I've seen this, although some Reddit users have known about this for a while. Probably because I play solo a lot, lol. It adds a thrilling new layer of strategy to the game, keeping matches exciting and unpredictable.
